Aquitaine
The Atlantic Coast of South-West France is famous in many countries for its Bordeaux wines (Saint Emilion, Pauillac, Sauternes…), for the forest of the Landes and its immense sandy beaches, for the Basque Country, with its rich culture, for its gastronomy, featuring foie gras and corn-fed poultry, for the « courses landaises », and for the majestic and sometimes impetuous watercourses which flow down from the Pyrenees along its southern border. Bordeaux is the uncontested capital of Aquitaine and the history of its association with England is still present, witnessed by the international trade fairs. The Place de Quinconces gives an image of the wide-ranging influence of this city.
The charm and the lilting country accent provide an ever present attraction to this region and its art of living. For an unforgettable memory, take a walk on a September morning when the forests diffuse first of all the aroma of cepes, followed by the resin of the pines in the heat of the sun, tempered by a refreshing sea breeze.
